Newcomers Learn How to Land a Job at Yellow Pages

Fifty job seekers recently gathered at MOSAIC to listen to representatives from the Yellow Pages Group describe how to get work at their company. The Yellow Pages Group is the leader in the electronic and print directories business in Canada.The HR Co-ordinator of Yellow Pages Group described the company’s business practices, its history, structure, hiring process, typical career paths and current job opportunities. She also gave some practical tips on how to best apply for jobs, including:

  • Thoroughly read job descriptions to understand the company’s requirements and expectations.
  • Search for the keywords in job descriptions, use them in your résumé, and indicate how your accomplishments address the requirements.
  • Customize your cover letter and résumé to each specific job.
  • Before sending your application, check your cover letter and résumé for spelling, grammar and content several times.

At the end of the presentation, the job seekers spoke one-to-one with the HR Co-ordinator and submitted their résumés in person.The event is part of MOSAIC’s series of highly popular Employer Presentations that provide job seekers with opportunities to connect with potential employers and introduce employers to talented newcomers who could fill positions in their companies.
