$325,000 jacket donation supports refugee clients

December 16, 2021

Refugee and refugee claimant clients at MOSAIC will stay warm and dry this winter thanks to an incredible donation of more than 3,800 jackets from Burnaby-based apparel company STORMTECH.

Totaling $325,000 in value, the donation is part of the organization’s 1:1 initiative which aims to donate 1% of Stormtech’s global sales in the form of much-needed apparel every year.

“We were seeking a way to support the refugees,” explained Sean Annable, VP of Sales & Marketing at STORMTECH Performance Apparel.

“MOSAIC has been able to connect our gear with families that need it, ensuring they are equipped with appropriate apparel.”

The jackets arrived at MOSAIC headquarters with support from the STORMTECH team, and MOSAIC staff have already begun the process of distributing them to clients. Ali Hoshmarid – a refugee from Afghanistan and MOSAIC client — was among the first to receive a jacket.

“I’ve already heard from refugee clients about the difference these jackets will make for the winter months. We are so grateful to STORMTECH for their generosity,” said Rafi Charif, Outreach Case Manager at MOSAIC.

MOSAIC is proud to be leading the largest Private Sponsorship initiative for Afghan Refugees in Western Canada, and will be co-sponsoring as many eligible refugees to Canada as possible.
