Profile by Sally Phung-Ip, Coordinator of Volunteer Resources

Name: Eric Lam
Volunteer Role: Client Advisory Committee
Volunteer Since: 2015

Originally from Vietnam, Eric Lam immigrated here with his family knowing that Canada would offer his children a better life. What he didn’t know was that after a bit of hard work, a better life is also what he and his wife would find. Eric has been a volunteer with MOSAIC since 2015 and currently works as a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant and a business and marketing consultant. He is passionate about helping others find a better life in Canada just as he has done.

Like many of our volunteers, Eric’s first experience with MOSAIC was as a client. At the time, Eric sought assistance with his job search and connected with a mentor through our Workplace Connections Program who provided valuable insights in his career. After that, Eric joined MOSAIC as a volunteer and helped out at the annual MOSAIC Career and Job Fair. Then, wanting to be more involved, Eric joined our Client Advisory Committee (CAC). The CAC is a volunteer body, comprised of former MOSAIC clients, whose role is to assist in the continual improvement of our services and to our continued CARF accreditation. Along with other members of the CAC, Eric provides feedback and recommendations to MOSAIC management to improve the quality of services to ensure high client satisfaction.

Eric volunteers because he believes that learning is a lifelong journey. He enjoys learning from clients and other volunteers. He finds staff to be friendly and supportive and appreciates the professionalism and diversity at MOSAIC. Self-described family man, Eric delights in spending time with his family and working on his photography during his spare time. He plans to further give back to the community by becoming a workplace mentor and helping newcomer jobseekers just as he was once helped all those many years ago.

I was a client of MOSAIC & I always highly appreciate what I have received so I love to give back.
