MOSAIC Seniors Club and over 250 seniors—mostly newcomers—celebrated the United Nations’ International Day of Older Persons and the National Senior’s Day today at a multicultural gathering at the Bonsor Recreation Complex on Saturday.Sustainability was the theme this year and the seniors were excited to learn about recycling and other tips for green living. Thanks to Platinum Sponsor Vancity Savings Credit Union, this was a zero-waste event.Community dignitaries, including Peter Julian, MP of Burnaby-New Westminster, Burnaby MLAs Kathy Corrigan, Raj Chouhan and Jane Shin came together to acknowledge the important roles that seniors play in sustainable communities.
