About this Award

The Eyob G. Naizghi Scholarship Award is presented to support the education and training of a female refugee with future leadership aspirations.

This $5,000 scholarship supports their education and training through academic or vocational post-secondary education.

This scholarship is in recognition of the outstanding leadership of Eyob Naizghi, Executive Director of MOSAIC from 2001-2018.

Award Criteria

Candidates must be nominated by a staff member of a community organization. The recipient is chosen based on the following:

  • Financial need
  • Merit

  • Being a female refugee

  • Confirmed acceptance to an educational institution

MUHADDISA SARWARI

Muhaddisa is a first-year student at the University of British Columbia, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with plans to attend Law School after graduation. Passionate about advocacy and community service, she has held leadership positions such as Fundraising Coordinator for the UBC Mental Health Network, VP of Operations at the non-profit organization of Youth of Canada, and has delivered a TEDx talk on refugee experiences.
