MOSAIC recently collaborated with the Tri-Cities Local Immigration Partnership and other immigrant serving organizations for this year’s Newcomer Employment Week.
Day one focused on building participants’ networking skills and the event kicked off with an inspirational keynote from Maylen Crespo (recipient of the Pacific Immigrant Resources Society Bright Lights Award in 2010 and NextUP award in 2013). MOSAIC’s Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants, along with the Douglas College Training Group, prepared a Get Ready to Network! workshop so participants could develop and practice their elevator pitches.
As an organization, MOSAIC participated on the Employer Panel to share our workplace culture and to highlight the areas we place importance on during the hiring process. The day ended with a Speed Networking Session allowing participants to test their newly gained skills on employers attending the event.
Participants spent the rest of the week touring various workplaces in the Tri-Cities area, expanding their network and gaining insights into the different workplace cultures and recruitment processes.
