Tax season 2026 is here, and MOSAIC is here to help.
For many newcomers, tax season in Canada can feel confusing. New rules, unfamiliar forms, and questions about benefits can make filing taxes stressful, especially if this is your first time doing taxes in a new country.
Each year, our Free Income Tax Clinic provides friendly, multilingual support to help eligible community members file their taxes accurately and with confidence. Whether you are filing for the first time or need guidance along the way, our team is here to make the process clear and accessible.
Filing your taxes can also help you access important government benefits and financial supports for you and your family.

Why Filing Taxes Matters
Filing your taxes helps you access important government benefits such as:
- GST/HST credit payments
- Canada Child Benefit (for eligible families with children)
- Other income-based federal and provincial supports
Many government benefits in Canada are calculated based on your tax return. Filing each year helps ensure you continue receiving the supports you may qualify for.
When We Cannot Assist
Unfortunately, our clinic is not able to support tax returns that involve:
- Business or rental income or expenses
- Selling property, investments, or other assets that result in capital gains or losses
- Bankruptcy filings
- Self-employment with business expense claims
- Filing a return on behalf of a deceased person
For these situations, assistance from a professional tax preparer may be required.
Not sure whether you qualify? Please contact us at taxclinic@mosaicbc.org before booking.
