MOSAIC partners with Silk Road Festival

July 9, 2019

MOSAIC was proud to be the charity partner for the inaugural Silk Road Festival, which took place in downtown Vancouver on July 6 & 7. The multicultural event was created to bridge cultures, inspire discovery and engage communities by showcasing art, cultures, food, travel and technology.

Despite the rain and cool weather, thousands of visitors attended the two-day festival at the plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery to visit booths, food trucks and stalls, and to take in the many performances.

Entertainment was inspired by cultures whose civilizations formed part of the Silk Road routes and included Chinese opera, dances and music, Spanish flamenco, folk and other dance performances from Bali, Uighur, Russia, Azerbajian, Bulgaria, Persia, Portugal and more.

The opening ceremony was attended by dignitaries, foreign consulate officials, politicians and sponsors.

On behalf of MOSAIC, Dr. Christian Duff, Board Chair, shared that bridging cultures and community engagement are the core of MOSAIC’s work, and expressed deep appreciation to North America Asean Consultants (NAAC) in organizing the Silk Road Festival to celebrate multiculturalism and engage locals and visitors to experience the mosaic of art, culture, and food across Metro Vancouver.

Our thanks also go out to MOSAIC staff and volunteers who interacted with the hundreds of visitors to our booth.
