MOSAIC “Overseas” Clients Celebrate in Town

March 1, 2017

Our Settlement Online Pre-arrival Services (SOPA) program hosted an Alumni Night at MOSAIC’s head office on the evening of Monday, February 27th. The purpose of the event was to celebrate SOPA clients’ successes, network, and promote the program.

In SOPA, clients from around the world who have been approved to immigrate to Canada, register for online training and assistance that provides information and preparation for the job market in Metro Vancouver and throughout the province of British Columbia.

Approximately 15 clients from India, Iran, and Philippines attended the event along with special guests and partners such as ASTTBC, India2Canada and APEGBC. Joan Andersen, Director of Employment and Language Services, opened the event with welcoming remarks before a presentation about SOPA. There was a cake cutting ceremony, door prizes were handed out and two clients shared their success stories.

Dina Cherevko, SOPA Program Coordinator, was very pleased with how the evening unfolded “It was a very positive vibe, clients were sharing their positive experience with SOPA and their smooth transition. They were happy to meet each other, make connections, network and learn about resources.”
