LGBTQ Project Receives Grant To Provide Free Clinical Counselling Services

December 6, 2015

Thanks to a $7,500 grant received from the Foundation of Hope, MOSAIC’s Award-winning project I Belong will now be able to offer individual and group clinical counselling services. These services will be multilingual and attuned to the needs of LGBTQ immigrants and refugees starting in early 2016.Many LGBTQ immigrants and refugees have experienced persecution and trauma and have difficulty finding culturally-sensitive clinical counselling that has appropriate language support and is affordable.MOSAIC and I Belong staff would like to thank the Foundation of Hope for their generous support in addressing this critical gap in LGBTQ newcomer services. With the grant from FOH, I Belong project will be able to provide individual counselling sessions to three individuals for  up  to four sessions and a monthly group session for a 12 month period with a transportation subsidy (as needed).Created in 2014, the Foundation of Hope provides financial assistance to Canadian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) actively supporting LGBT+ refugees and immigrants.
