Community Raises Almost $5000 for MOSAIC at the Scotiabank Charity Challenge!

July 6, 2018

MOSAIC’s first year at the Scotiabank Charity Challenge (June 24, 2018) was an amazing fun-filled day of raising funds and building community. Thanks to the support of our fundraisers, participants, donors and volunteers, Team MOSAIC raised almost $5000 in support of newcomers!

Our top fundraiser is Hilda Ma! Hilda raised $900 and received a gift basket filled with donated goods from Everything Wine and Starbucks (Market Crossing). Congratulations, Hilda, and thank you!

The MOSAIC Cheer Station was a hit with all the runners and was manned by staff and volunteers with home-made signs cheering everyone to the finish line! More fun was had at MOSAIC’s tent in the Charity Expo site, a hot-spot of activity where everyone gathered before and after to celebrate.

“Running through Stanley Park as part of a community was an energizing way to lend my support to new immigrants and refugees,” says Board member, Yijin Wen. “Thanks to everyone who participated, donated and volunteered as part of the MOSAIC team.”

“This was the first medal I ever received in my life. As a refugee we never had the opportunity,” said Ashraf, a MOSAIC staff member. “It was a great day and I thoroughly enjoyed it with team MOSAIC.”
