February is Black History Month—a time to recognize and celebrate the achievements, contributions, and cultural heritage of Black communities. Across Metro Vancouver, organizations, venues, and community groups are hosting events that highlight Black history, arts, and voices.

From film screenings and literary discussions to fashion shows and historical explorations, these events provide meaningful opportunities to learn, reflect, and connect. To help you take part, MOSAIC’s Centre for Diversity has curated a list of key events happening throughout the month:

Arts, Film, & Cultural Expression

Verses of Power: Black Poets Speak Out

African Fashion Week Vancouver: Heritage in Motion Fashion Show

A showcase of African fashion, blending traditional and modern designs to celebrate Black creativity and cultural heritage.

Afro-Latinx Cine Club: Pelo Malo Film Screening & Discussion

A screening and discussion of Pelo Malo, a thought-provoking film exploring Afro-Latinx identity, race, and self-image.

A family-friendly event featuring music, storytelling, and interactive activities that honor Black history.
