Advance Care Planning (in Cantonese / Mandarin)

November 20 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Understand your options in British Columbia

Advance care planning helps you express the health care you would want to receive— or choose to refuse — if you become unable to speak for yourself. In B.C., legislation supports individuals to record their wishes, usually in writing. This practical, language-accessible workshop explains why planning matters, how to begin conversations with family and friends, and what your document options are so your future care reflects your values.

Presented by a speaker from the Seniors’ Health & Wellness Institute (COSCO). The session will be delivered in Cantonese and Mandarin.

What you’ll learn

  • Why plan ahead: how advance care planning supports you, your family, and your care team
  • Start the conversation: tips for discussing values, beliefs, and priorities with loved ones
  • Document options in B.C.: what you can prepare to record your wishes (overview only)
  • Next steps: practical actions you can take after the workshop

Who should attend

Older adults, caregivers, and community members who want to feel confident discussing future care and documenting their wishes. All are welcome—bring your questions.
