At MOSAIC, we take great care in the support and services we provide to our clients from diverse backgrounds and the communities they have transitioned from around the world, each contributing unique perspectives shaped by their lived experiences and cultural teachings. Many of us are part of communities impacted by diaspora or conflict, with families and ancestors who sought better lives. We work on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Skwxwú7mesh, and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ , and we are committed to inclusivity, respect, and protection of human rights. The ongoing conflict in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories challenges these principles. The conflict has exacerbated tensions, and the violence marginalizes communities and violates fundamental human rights. In recent weeks, concerns have escalated due to the broader regional expansion of this conflict, which will only result in increased devastation and displacement.

MOSAIC reaffirms its dedication to supporting those in need and remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting peace and inclusivity, while also highlighting the immeasurable impact conflict can have. MOSAIC welcomes and affirms the Canadian government’s recent announcement of financial assistance and access to settlement services for Gazans arriving in Canada. These initiatives, effective until July 31, 2027, will help to meet essential needs such as food, clothing, and housing and access to settlement services like language training, job search and other community services for integrating into Canadian life. Gazans will also receive three months of temporary health coverage under the Interim Federal Health Program to address urgent medical needs. Eligibility extends to individuals assisted by the Canadian government in departing the occupied Palestinian territories between November 1, 2023, and December 31, 2024, as well as those arriving as temporary residents through special measures for extended family in Gaza. MOSAIC acknowledges and supports these important and necessary efforts to address the urgent needs of those affected by the ongoing conflict and we are prepared to provide support and resources to ensure a seamless transition for Gazans into Canadian communities.
