About this Award

The Goodell Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in Grade 12 at a public secondary school in British Columbia. They must have a commitment to one or more non-academic interests, such as sports, music or drama, planning to pursue a post-secondary Bachelor’s degree at university, and demonstrate financial need.

The most important quality of the chosen applicant will be excellent academic performance. School transcripts are required with the application.

Not open for those on study permits.

This $2,000 scholarship may be renewed yearly for the applicant, for a total of $8,000 over four consecutive years. The recipient will engage in a renewal process each year.

Award Criteria

To be eligible for this award, recipients must meet the following:

  • The Goodell Scholarship will be given to a person currently enrolled in Grade 12 at a public secondary school in British Columbia and achieving excellent academic performance
  • This award will be made on the recommendation of the MOSAIC-Goodell Committee with input from donors or designates 

  • Preference will be given to those who demonstrate:
    • Financial need
    • Commitment to one of more non-academic interests, such as sports, music or drama
    • Planning to pursue a post-secondary Bachelor’s degree at a university, which must be a qualified Canadian institution or, if outside Canada, must be listed by the Canadian Revenue Agency as a prescribed university

Josh Todd Stephens is a grade 12 honors student at Sardis Secondary in Chilliwack, and plans to pursue an Engineering program at UBC. From a young age, he has been fascinated by how things work. Josh envisions a career in Engineering to use his curiosity to improve the world and make it a better place.
