On World Refugee Day, MOSAIC honours the resilience, humanity, and courage of people around the world who have been forced to flee their homes and countries.
The number of people displaced by war, persecution, and conflict exceeded 70 million in 2018. This is the highest level of human displacement in recorded history.
MOSAIC is a national leader in the provision of refugee support programs. Our passionate teams work every day to ensure that not only the essential needs of refugees in our community are met, but go beyond that: Striving to invest the time for understanding, meaningful connections, and community involvement opportunities.
We see that our city is stronger and more connected because refugees are here, becoming colleagues, neighbors, and friends. Since 2017, MOSAIC has been a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH), which allows us to work with others in the community to sponsor refugees, or to directly sponsor refugees ourselves.
MOSAIC is also a key pillar of support for asylum seekers and refugee claimants in Vancouver, Surrey, and across the Fraser Valley. A long-time service provider for refugee claimants, we extended our programming in 2018 with the support of the Province of BC. MOSAIC works with valued partners to provide essential services ranging from initial settlement support (housing referrals, navigating the refugee claim process, work permit applications), customized employment programs, as well as comprehensive mental well being services.
For individuals facing the emotionally demanding experience of seeking asylum in Canada, we are proud to support their safety, awareness of process, sense of connection, and the knowledge that someone cares.
