On Saturday, March 23, 2018, MOSAIC’s NuYu Program completed its Winter 2018 series with a bang! Refined through eight weeks of rehearsals, 14 youth showcased their talent in drama and storytelling at the NuYu Forum on Saturday! The program funder, Coast Capital Savings, joined youth as they shared their stories of immigration to Canada.
In addition to developing fruitful relationships, communication skills, and presentation skills, youth expressed great appreciation towards receiving a platform for self-expression. A warm audience with enthusiastic participation supported the youth as they shared their struggles and strengths via screenplay!
MOSAIC’s NuYu Program will be hosting a larger forum for the public to take part in (and experience popular theatre live!) in June 2018. Keep an eye out for upcoming information to attend this forum and join an interactive audience for a fun afternoon! Details coming soon!
MOSAIC’s RYTE Program also concluded its first Youth Advocacy pilot project titled “YouthLabz” on March 29. A total of twelve youth came together over the past four months to discuss current events, youth perspectives towards social trends, and devise a youth vision for upcoming summer events. Stay turned to learn more about opportunities to join the RYTE Program this summer!
Through theatre exercises and games in MOSAIC’s NuYu program, participants gradually create scenes which reflect their personal life challenges. The program creates a space for youth to collectively come up with positive solutions to the challenges presented in the scenes by their peers. To learn more, please visit mosaicbc.org/nuyu.
