Beginning April 2019, MOSAIC will lead operations for WorkBC Centres in four communities: Vancouver North East, Delta, South Surrey-White Rock and Surrey Cloverdale.
Since the launch of WorkBC in 2012, MOSAIC has managed the Vancouver North East Centre in partnership with organizations that offer specialized expertise in the catchment, and will now expand operations to include the three additional locations in Surrey and Delta.
With 35 years of experience delivering employment programs in BC, MOSAIC’s expertise includes piloting programs to address gaps, customized employment services for newcomers to Canada, and working with 1000+ employer partners in their recruitment efforts.
Olga Stachova, Chief Executive Officer, commented that MOSAIC clients have greatly benefited from programs and initiatives funded by the BC Government and is delighted at the confidence shown in MOSAIC with the awarding of the four contracts. “We’re thrilled that the government has recognized our expertise and has entrusted us with operating additional centres.”
WorkBC supports more than 50,000 people annually in finding employment and a recent news release announced a 22% increase in total locations, improved services, and greater eligibility.
“Many people trying to find work face barriers to opportunity. They need a hand overcoming those barriers to take the next step to meet their goals,” said Shane Simpson, Minister of Social
Development and Poverty Reduction. “That’s why we are refocusing WorkBC on delivering results for people. Improving accessibility and moving to more personalized supports will make it easier for more people to find good, stable jobs so they can provide for themselves and their families.”
MOSAIC is an acronym for Multi-lingual Orientation Service Association for Immigrant Communities.
