Please RSVP by emailing info@mosaicbc.org.This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Gillian Creese; the topic is Settlement and Social Justice: Reflection on MOSAIC’s 40th anniversary.Dr. Gillian Creese is the Acting Associate Dean of Arts, Faculty & Equity, and Professor in the Department of Sociology and the Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice at the University of British Columbia. Her research interests include migration, racialization and gender; equity issues in work and trade unions; and feminist research methods. Her most recent books include The New African Diaspora in Vancouver: Migration, Exclusion and Belonging (University of Toronto Press, 2011), and (with Wendy Frisby) Feminist Community Research: Case Studies and Methodologies (University of British Columbia Press, 2011). Her current research explores the gendered and racialized experiences of “Growing up African-Canadian in Metro Vancouver: Child Migrants Negotiate Adulthood”. Dr. Creese served MOSAIC as a Board member from 1994-2000.All MOSAIC members in good standing as of September 1st, 2016 are eligible to vote at the AGM on MOSAIC business, including voting to elect board members.
