Stop the Violence Awareness Event

Learn, reflect, and take action to prevent gender-based violence

Join us for a free community event led by MOSAIC’s Violence Prevention Program (VPP) as part of the international 16 Days of Activism campaign. Designed for adults 19+ living in B.C., this hybrid event combines practical legal information, an arts-based performance, and a short wellness session to help participants build awareness, connect with others, and leave with clear next steps.

10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. | Know Your Rights — Legal Knowledge Info-session (Community Room)

  • Key topics: Family Law, Protection Orders, Immigration Status, and more
  • Presenter: Cyrus Haghighi, Lawyer, Sinclair Law Centre LLP

12:00 p.m.–12:30 p.m. | Short Break

12:30 p.m.–1:30 p.m. | “Stars on Pavement” — Live Dramatic Reading

  • A powerful play by Mexican playwright Carlos Arturo Aguilar exploring how gender violence becomes normalized and its consequences
  • Performed by Jessica Valencia, Miguel Guerrero, and Paulina Pino-Rubio (a VPP client)

1:30 p.m.–1:45 p.m. | Short Break

1:45 p.m.–2:00 p.m. | Yoga and Mindfulness

  • Gentle practice to help you decompress and reflect
  • Led by VPP client Fakhria Ibrahimi Momtaz of Momtaz Yoga
