Hope To Work Program Celebrates 28 Clients

March 21, 2017

Clients, employers and staff gathered at MOSAIC on March 16 to celebrate the graduates of the Hope To Work (H2W) program. Offered initially in November, and again in February, a total of 28 clients have completed the two-week program which helps refugees to Canada set career goals and plan how to achieve them.

Approximately 35 people attended the celebration, including the management of Sunrise Soya Foods and ParaSpace Landscaping, who hosted tours of their work facilities for H2W clients. During the event, Joan Andersen, Director of Employment and Language Services, H2W Coordinator Marina Gherman and Shirley Joe from Sunrise Soya all spoke about the program. H2W participants Rawaa Mahouk, Yusra Almashhadani and Ahmed Al-Tahan also shared their gratitude for, and experiences of the program in heartfelt speeches. A 9-minute video showing highlights from both the 2016 and 2017 cohorts was introduced by facilitator Amer Amer.

The H2W project is now transitioning into its research phase with a final report due in January 2018. To find out more, please visit mosaicbc.org/h2w.
