MOSAIC’s Migrant Workers Program

Support for Migrant Workers and Employers

MOSAIC’s Migrant Workers Program operates within Canada and helps migrant workers in the province of British Columbia to learn about their workplace rights and how to access services. We also help employers understand their duties when hiring workers.

We redistribute funds to over 20 non-profit agencies to support workers and their employers.

We work closely with the partner agencies to build capacity through sharing resources and providing direct support for migrant workers.

Services are available in English, Spanish, Tagalog, Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, French, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Ask us about support for other languages.

Testimonials

Hello Carolina and Juan, How are you doing? I hope everything is going well, hehe. I’m writing to tell you that things are going great at the restaurant. Little by little, they are giving me more hours, and I feel recognized. My pay is arriving on time, taxes are being deducted, I’m receiving tips, and so on. I really appreciate all the support you gave me; I’m feeling better and more confident every day that Canada is the place where I want to live. Always grateful

Dear Guri Kaur Mam, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you for your outstanding work on my case. When no one else was willing to take on the challenge, you not only accepted my case but also successfully navigated it with such dedication and expertise. Thanks to your efforts, I received the $900 from the Government of Canada and, perhaps more impressively, my open work permit was processed in record time. Your professionalism and commitment made all the difference, and I am truly grateful for the support and guidance you provided throughout.I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done to help me during such a difficult time. I will certainly recommend your services to anyone in need of legal assistance. Warm regards,

I am writing to express my profound gratitude for the incredible support and assistance you provided me through the process of obtaining my open work permit. Your dedication and expertise were instrumental in successfully resolving my pending ESB case. None of this would have been possible without your invaluable guidance and commitment. Your professionalism and understanding made a significant difference in my journey, and I am deeply appreciative of everything you have done. Furthermore, I would like to extend my thankfulness to MOSAIC for their continued efforts in making such a positive impact in the community. The organization’s mission is truly commendable, and I am grateful to have been a beneficiary of its outstanding services. Once again, a heartfelt thank you, Guri, for your exceptional work. I wish you and everyone at MOSAIC continued success in the amazing work you do ,I hope you all continue to help many others, just as you have helped me. Thank you once again, and I wish you all the best.

I was on a closed work permit, I was full of hope and dreams for a better future. However, my excitement soon turned into despair as I found myself facing exploitation and abuse at the hands of my employer. Working long hours with little pay, I felt trapped and powerless. It was then that Mr. Henry Morato from Mosaic came into my life like a beacon of hope. From the moment I met him, I could sense his dedication and compassion. He listened to my story with empathy and took my situation seriously. He assured me that things could be different and that I deserved better. Mr. Henry worked tirelessly on my behalf, navigating the complexities of immigration law to secure me an open work permit. Throughout the process, he kept me updated and informed, never letting me feel alone in this fight. His perseverance paid off, and soon I held in my hands an open work permit that gave me the freedom and dignity I had longed for. Thanks to Mr. Henry and the team at Mosaic, I am now able to work without fear and build a future where my skills and hard work are valued. My success story is a testament to the power of compassion and dedicated support in times of vulnerability. Thank You

I just want to share how Sir Henry Morato helped me to successfully have the Open Work Permit for Vulnerable Workers. I arrived at Canada last October 30, 2023. I was in a closed work permit since I was directly hired by Hana Sushi as a Food Service Supervisor. I was so happy this time because I can finally start earning money for a better life and specially I can provide all the needs and wants of my son. I wasn’t expecting that my happiness will turn into depression and stress. My past employers are so abusive. They are mentally, financially abusive and to the extent of being physically abusive (to my friend). My eagerness to find a way on how to move out from my situation and finding ways on what I can do to find a better employer helped me to found a person who is totally kind to help me and I saw him on TikTok and one of my friends have Sir Henry’s phone number so he gave it to me not knowing that my friend also gave my phone number to Sir Henry and he was the first one to contact me. He helped me with my situation on how to file a case at IRCC and luckily I now have my OWP after waiting for 9 weeks. Also, I had the chance to get a support letter from MWO regarding my situation. Aside from that, Sir Henry helped me as well to have a grocery coupon which helped me a lot so I can buy my needs. Thank you to Sir Henry Morato and Mosaic. God Bless. Sincerely,
