I Belong is a program welcoming all LGBTQIA2+ refugees and newcomers. We provide a safe space to connect and receive personalized support.
This program hosts four events every month:
Navigating a new country and language as an LGBTQIA2+ refugee or newcomer can be challenging. The I Belong program is here to guide you through this process.
This program provides community support, one-on-one help, referrals for settlement needs, and counselling. We also have monthly programs for members:
I Belong Peer Support
Meet new people, make friends and take part in activities facilitated by LGBTQIA2+ support workers. This peer support group helps you learn about community resources, share experiences, and meet new friends. Our peer support group is open to LGBTQIA2+ newcomers, regardless of immigration status.
Peer support groups meet online on the first and second Monday of every month, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm.
I Belong Group Counselling Support
Share your experiences with a registered clinical counsellor in these group sessions. Together you will explore ideas to make positive changes in your life. Support is open to LGBTQIA2+ newcomers, regardless of immigration status.
The Counselling Support Group meets on the last Monday of every month, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.
Beyond Borders & Binaries – Trans, Non-Binary and Gender-Diverse Peer Support Group
This peer-led group is for trans, non-binary and gender-diverse immigrants, refugees and newcomers. Join us to share stories, information, and resources. This group is open to all, regardless of immigration status.
The Beyond Borders & Binaries Group meets on the 3rd Monday of every month, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.
This program is supported by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, The Foundation of Hope, and Trans Care BC.
