Parenting Support for First Time Parents

Are you anxious or worried about having a baby? If you are pregnant or have a baby under 6 months old, and live in Vancouver, we can help.

The Building Blocks Vancouver program helps vulnerable first-time parents who don’t have other local support. You can get support and guidance from Family Support Home Visitors in consultation with Nurses and Social workers

We can:

  • help lower isolation
  • monitor your baby’s developmental stages
  • promote healthy parent-child relationships
  • answer your parenting questions
  • refer and accompany you to supports and appointments
  • help you through new parent struggles

Eligibility

This program is for parents or caregivers who:

  • are first-time parents
  • live in the Vancouver area

  • are pregnant or have a child under 6 months old

  • struggle with parenting

Program Description

Being a new parent can be hard. We are here to help.

Join the Building Blocks Vancouver program to get parenting support and resources, including:

  • help monitor healthy development and milestones
  • nutritional help for baby and mom
  • providing companionship and parenting support
  • support for breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and starting solid foods
  • help to understand baby’s communication
  • resources for healthy families
  • support for finding daycare, preschools, and kindergarten

We are here to answer your questions and help you feel confident as a new parent. We visit you in your home or online once a week, or as often as you need.

Are you Korean, Vietnamese, or Somali?

You can also join the Community Action Program where your children can play, and you get cultural-specific support.

This program is available in: 廣東話 (Cantonese), English, हिन्दी (Hindi), Tagalog, Việt Ngữ (Vietnamese), اُردو (Urdu), 한국어 (Korean), Español (Spanish), ਪੰਜਾਬੀ (Punjabi), Tamil, and 中文 (Mandarin).
