Culture Connections Social Mentoring Program

Mentoring Programs for New Immigrants in Canada

Connect with a local social mentor for support and friendship. In our mentoring programs for new immigrants in Canada, you get one-on-one support with your mentor and access to group activities.

Your mentor will help you:

  • Make friends through workshops and events
  • Exchange cultural values
  • Share stories
  • Access local resources

You can participate in this program if you are:

  • At least 18 years old

  • A Permanent Resident or protected person of Canada

  • Live in the Greater Vancouver area

Program Description

We connect newcomers with local volunteers to build relationships and learn about your community.

This mentoring program for new immigrants in Canada includes:

  • Weekly meetings with your mentor for 3 months
  • Access to local group events and field trips
  • Group networking events with speakers or social activities

Who are the mentors?

Our volunteer mentors are friendly and ready to help. Many came to Canada as immigrants themselves, so they understand your struggles. Together you will get to practice your English, try new activities, and explore your local community.

How to apply

Email us your interest to apply. We can match you with the best mentor for your needs:

As a mentor I am happy that I helped 3 mentees for their study, life and mindset.

Participating in Culture Connections has resulted in beautiful new friendships and an expansion of my own horizons; I have loved my time in this program and would recommend it to anybody.

Not only have I gained knowledge about the city and Canada, but I have also gained a lifelong friend.

I am looking forward to meeting my mentor who will help me to integrate into the culture of Canada.

I have always believed that “When you light a lamp for someone it brightens your own path as well”! Keeping this in mind I wanted to contribute to diversity and inclusion thus making a difference in the life of newcomers in Canada. The Culture Connections Program has been the perfect platform to empower my fellow immigrants”.
