Surrey Together Against Racism (STAR)

Anti-Racism Resources in BC

The Resilience BC Anti-Racism Network provides info, support, and training to communities in BC. The BC-wide network is managed by the Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society that serves as a “Hub.”

The network’s goal is to better respond to and prevent racism and crime in our communities.

The Hub coordinates efforts with 35  groups doing this work in other communities. MOSAIC leads the Surrey Together Against Racism (STAR) “Spoke” of this network in Surrey and White Rock.

You can report racism and hate in your community to your local police. You can also use our Incident Report Form. Please click the button below to access the form. If you want to contact us by email, please email us at

Program Description

We aim to support an inclusive Canada. This is why we’re supporting this project in the White Rock and Surrey communities.

This work will combat all types of racism through community action, events, and our work with other anti-racism groups.

Who We Work With

We don’t work alone. We work with many local groups in support of community anti-racism, including:

  • Local service providers
  • Community organizations
  • Municipal organizations
  • Educational facilities
  • Law enforcement
  • Cultural and faith-based groups

What We Do

Within these communities we:

  • Build awareness of racism and hate issues
  • Mobilize community support and response
  • Lead discussions
  • Provide anti-racism workshops

MOSAIC also participates in province-wide initiatives as part of the Resilience BC Network.

Our Goals

In White Rock and Surrey, we will

  • Continue to maintain a committee that represents our diverse community
  • Revise local response protocol to respond to racism and hate crimes in the community
  • Provide a clearer understanding of racism and hate issues in the community
  • Look for ways to address these issues
  • Work with other network groups

Check back soon to learn how you can get involved.
