Team MOSAIC turned up in full force to the Latin Summer Fest 2014, at Trout Lake Park last Sunday, August 17th!The festival, organized by Latinos in Action, is a community event staged annually to celebrate and promote Latin Culture through its vibrant, colourful spirit, music, arts, culture and food.The party atmosphere provided a festive backdrop for MOSAIC staff and volunteers from Settlement, Family Services and Employment Programs to engage with the community. Visitors to the booth were mostly families with children who enjoyed our kid-friendly zone offering button-making and coloring activities. The gift basket raffled off late afternoon was an added attraction, as were our MOSAIC bags, fans, tattoos, and water bottles. The team was busy with visitors to the booth, and there were many newcomers, some temporary foreign workers, as well as many from the mainstream population, who expressed keen interest in our various programs either for themselves, their friends or families. The booth was a lively hub where the Latin community along with many different cultures and languages converged.The crowd started to build up a little after noon, and the park overflowed with more visitors through the rest of the event which ran until 8pm. The organizers made a wonderful endorsement of MOSAIC on stage, coinciding with the announcement of our raffle draw winner late afternoon.Kudos to all our dedicated and energetic team at the event, and everyone else who helped behind the scene.The Latin Summer Fest was a spectacular success and Team MOSAIC should be back again next year!
