Swedish delegation visits MOSAIC

January 25, 2019

Nordic countries often cite Canada as a role model for integrating newcomers and our nation’s success prompted a 34-member delegation from Sweden to visit MOSAIC and on January 17th. The Swedish team consisted of various government and non-government groups that work with refugees in Sweden.

A presentation about MOSAIC services and programs for newcomers was provided, followed by a discussion involving challenges and best practices in both countries. The Swedes are particularly interested in the employment success enjoyed by immigrants to Canada, and are actively looking to strengthen the pathways to employment for refugees to Sweden. Currently it takes an average of six years before refugees to Sweden are able to join the workforce.

MOSAIC is recognized as settlement experts and in addition to working with newcomers to find employment, the organization also operates the WorkBC office in Vancouver Northeast, which provides services for all residents.
