Redirecting Youth Through Empowerment (RYTE) hosts a forum for Tigrinya speaking youth

On Saturday, November 16th, the one of the three RYTE youth forums was delivered at the Edmonds Community Centre in Burnaby. Corporal Albertina Yep from Burnaby RCMP delivered a presentation on Crimes and Prevention. More than 30 youth attended the presentation and participated actively with lots of questions raised and discussed. After the presentation, small group discussion was facilitated by a youth leader, Mathias Abraha, on the issues that are important to Tigrinya speaking youth.

Andrea Lukic, Teen Services Librarian from Burnaby Public Library, Kate Liu from Fast Track to Manufacturing Youth Employment Program, a number of Moving Ahead Program staff also joined the forum and shared the information about their services for newcomer youth.

The second forum will take place on Saturday, November 30th at the Edmonds Community Centre. The forum will be facilitated in English and Arabic.

The third forum will take place on Tuesday, December 17th at the L.A. Matheson Secondary School in Surrey.
