For the first time ever, MOSAIC’s annual Immigrant Professionals Conference (IPC) is being offered as a virtual event. To register, get your free tickets here for both the January 23 and 30 dates.
This year’s theme, ‘Pivot Your Career & Adapt to the New Job Market’, will focus on supporting participants in light of the lasting impact that the pandemic has left on many professional lives.
Each year, the IPC provides more than 250 immigrant professionals with the opportunity to further their professional development via presentations by inspiring speakers, active participation in sessions, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. This year’s keynote speaker is Nothabo Ncube, an inspirational Tedx speaker, coach and mentor.
With the significant changes that have occurred in the labour market in the past year due to the pandemic, the conference will expose participants to experts and leaders in their respective fields, trends in the current labour market, and strategies and skills they can employ in their own career advancement.
The release of Statistics Canada’s December Labour Force Survey highlighted that while British Columbia has seen modest gains in job growth, there are sectors that are still struggling as a result of the pandemic. BC’s Minister of Jobs, Economy Recovery and Innovation Ravi Kahlon has noted that the province is, “seeing disproportionate impacts on people of colour who are both business owners and employees.”
