Our new home is located at 5575 Boundary Road in Vancouver, V5R 2P9 (Collingwood community) on the first two floors in Tower 1 of the new Wall Centre Central Park, a complex housing residential units and community organizations, with a community centre, library and community gardens close at hand.
MOSAIC’s new 23,000 square foot space is owned by the City of Vancouver and designated as a community amenity, with MOSAIC as the operator. We are very appreciative to the City of Vancouver for providing a beautiful new facility that will help MOSAIC to better serve refugees and other newcomers.
Our new headquarters includes over 100 staff offices and work stations, a large community room, a welcome centre, eight meeting rooms, a computer lab and a child-friendly family counselling space.
The new MOSAIC location is easily accessible by public transit (Joyce-Collingwood Station) and is 45% larger than our current headquarters. Three classrooms open up to a conference space that will accommodate up to 160 people and an expanded community meeting room will also host up to 90 people.
Our new home was built, fully finished and furnished to meet the needs of MOSAIC and its clients by the developer of the complex, Wall Financial. Their team has done a first-rate job preparing the space.
Background
For 30 years, 1720 Grant Street had served as MOSAIC’s headquarters. Over the past three decades, our organization has expanded from this single location to today’s 26 locations where clients can access MOSAIC’s services and programs in their own neighbourhoods across Metro Vancouver.
Discussions with the City of Vancouver regarding a future home for MOSAIC had been ongoing for a dozen years, with the Wall Centre Central Park site confirmed in 2013.
MOSAIC wishes to acknowledge the efforts of our Board Space Committee in helping to secure the site and in the provision of ongoing guidance throughout the planning process. Committee members include: board members Adam Policzer, Jeff Brooks, and Yijin Wen; architect Julio Gombero; MOSAIC Director of Finance & Administration, Sue Trevor, and Eyob Naizghi, Executive Director.
