MOSAIC hosted staff and guests at an Open House Reception at 304- 2730 Commercial Drive on October 30. Although MOSAIC has been at this address, serving clients with English language instruction since 1998, the organization just recently took over the 3rd floor. After renovations, the expanded space now houses an administrative area, an office, and a large flex space which will be used by Settlement Services for workshops, classes and meetings as well as by language students.Diana Ospina, Manager of the Language Centre, welcomed everyone with a warm address. Senior Managers Nina Miller and Khim Tan spoke about how this new space reflects an “integration” strategy while Directors Joan Andersen and Sherman Chan, as well as Executive Director Eyob Naizghi also addressed the gathered assembly.Settlement staff gave a presentation about workshops that will be held onsite and, after the cutting of the ribbon, tested the memory of guests with questions from the presentation.The Centre currently has 299 students enrolled. There is also a child-minding service for language students with 50 kids ages 10 months and older registered. As a special treat for guests of the Open House, some youngsters from the daycare were present and performed a Happy Halloween song.
