City News – Female international students more likely to be assaulted than locals, report finds

Lasia Kretzel for City News writes, “women from other countries studying in Canada are more at risk of being sexually assaulted, and less likely to get help, according to research out of Quebec.

Olga Stachova with MOSAIC — a Vancouver charity that helps immigrants and newcomers to Canada — says isolation, new cultures and lack of social supports and knowledge of the law are part of why the women are more vulnerable.”
