MOSAIC’s “All Staff Retreat” a Great Success!

August 11, 2017

MOSAIC held its annual “All Staff Retreat” on July 19th, 2017 at the Firefighters Banquet & Conference Centre in Burnaby. There were over 160 staff and management present from all 11 MOSAIC-managed locations. The retreat provided an excellent opportunity for staff to network, share client stories, and learn more about the organization.

Eyob Naizghi, Executive Director, opened the day with a warm welcome, and provided staff with an update on MOSAIC’s strategic plan (PDF). Some key highlights included the work done on geographic expansion and our new Boundary head office, the new advocacy framework developed by our Board of Directors, the results of the staff survey demonstrating a healthy work environment and other strategic work completed around the five strategic directions of the plan.

Patrick Crossman, Website & Social Media Administrator, led staff through a demonstration of the organization’s Intranet, MOSAIC Connect, a new tool built to improve and strengthen internal communications. Features include a searchable staff directory, a calendar of events and various online forms to streamline processes and create efficiencies in the organization.

The Senior Managers from all five client-serving clusters led staff through an activity on MOSAIC’s values: Commitment, Integrity, Excellence, Innovation and Inclusion. Staff discussed our values and were specifically asked to discuss how MOSAIC currently demonstrates these values and to identify more things we can do.

The wellbeing of our staff is critical to our success. Thanks to the active participation of our staff, the staff-driven “Wellness Committee” did a great job getting staff active with two activities, an outdoor scavenger hunt and an indoor choir session. A wonderful day was had by all and staff members are now more motivated than ever to excel in service delivery and to work hard for immigrants and refugees settling in the Lower Mainland. Please see below for photos from the day.
