MOSAIC’s 2017 Voyages Youth Conference: A Great Success!

June 7, 2017

MOSAIC’s annual youth conference, VOYAGES, took place at SFU Surrey Campus on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017.

The MOSAIC Youth Programs team was delighted to meet more than 60 youth participants, aged 14–24 years old, who came from Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and Surrey. Organized as part of the 2017 Victim and Survivors of Crime Week, this year’s theme was Empowering Resilience.

VOYAGES 2017 featured a combination of fun activities, inspirational speeches and opportunities to expand social networks. As well, special guest Sergeant Jag Khosa from the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit BC shared comprehensive knowledge about gang activities in BC, deconstructing the facts and myths of gang life. Throughout the day, youth learned to be in touch with their resilience as a way to combat social isolation, gained skills in dealing with negative emotions and learned about alternatives to negative activities.
