Coast Capital Savings has awarded a Community Investments Grant to MOSAIC’s NuYu program. The NuYu program uses popular theatre methodology as a tool to engage immigrant, refugee and newcomer youth to share the challenges they face during their settlement process. During the course of the program, youth create scenes which reflect real-life situations around issues such as racism, isolation and bullying. The scenes are then shared at community forums where audience members are given the opportunity to provide solutions to the challenges presented.Support received from Coast Capital Savings will allow MOSAIC to offer the NuYu program in Surrey for immigrant and refugee youth as well as training for youth and service providers on how to use popular theatre with the work they do in supporting young people.
