MOSAIC Presents at Senate Committee on Human Rights

On October 19th, 2016, Saleem Spindari, MOSAIC’s Manager of Refugee Settlement Support Projects, presented to the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights on steps being taken to facilitate the integration of newly-arrived Syrian refugees. In particular, Saleem spoke about the work of MOSAIC, the Metro Vancouver RRT, the support to private sponsors, and the issues of wait-list and family reunification.Saleem brought to the Senators our values in social justice, compassion, and professionalism in working with refugees and immigrants, and in mobilizing community support.. Since the start of the Syrian crisis in 2011, MOSAIC has worked closely with the Syrian community, acting as a focal point for information and support. We have supported the establishment of the Syrian Community Network, which includes 18 leaders and activists, to provide support to Syrian refugees and their families.
