The Community Room at MOSAIC’s Vancouver Office was transformed into a colourful space as the Afghan Women’s Group hosted the first MOSAIC Nowrooz Celebration on Tuesdsay, March 26th.Two Haft Seen tables, one with a traditional Afghani layout incorporating the Seven Fruits, and another following Iranian customs were set up. Poetry, traditional snacks, live music and bilingual narratives accompanied this, making it into a truly memorable event for community members familiar with Nowrooz and for other newcomers experiencing for the first time the sights, sounds and tastes of Nowrooz.We wish to extend our thanks to Vancouver Deputy Mayor, Councilor Geoff Megs, Raj Chouhan and Mable Elmore, MLAs, as well as Professor Parin Dossa from SFU and Poran Poregbal, Founder and Executive Director of G.V. Counselling & Education Society for Families for participating in the festivities.
