MOSAIC LINC Summer Picnics at Trout Lake

August 3, 2017

The people at Vancouver English Language Centres enjoy a good party and the end of our Spring-Summer term was the perfect time to celebrate. On July 23 and 24, students, volunteers and staff gathered at Trout Lake for our annual Summer Potluck Picnics. We spent some quality time together reflecting on all the good times we’ve had this year and all the challenges we’ve overcome. We also spent a lot of time laughing and of course EATING. Students shared an amazing array of delicious foods from around the world.

We congratulated all the students who are moving to the next levels and bid a fond farewell to our friends graduating from the program. We also had some words of encouragement from our Executive Director, Eyob Naizghi, and Director of Employment and Language Programs, Michael Radano. Daisy Au, our ever-supportive Settlement Worker, and the lively Early Childhood Educators also joined us.

Students helped us thank our amazing team of volunteers for all their dedication. Linda Davies, Instructional Developer, provided the musical accompaniment to all our enthusiastic singers in our sing-along and we were delighted to have Nina Miller, Senior Manager of Language Programs, and Diana Ospina, Manager of the Vancouver Language Centres, join us in the afternoon.

Thank you to students, volunteers and staff for all the great memories and for all the work in preparing for this fun and popular event. Special thanks to our Level 6 AM and Eve and Level 5 PM classes for educating and encouraging us to make this a Zero Waste event. Have a wonderful summer everyone and see you all back at school on September 7th.

We provide high quality English classes to refugees and immigrants from Literacy to Level 7. Classes help students participate in their community and at work or school as quickly as possible. To learn more, please visit mosaicbc.org/linc.
