MOSAIC Green Ambassadors lead by example

November 2, 2018

On Sunday, October 28th, 2018, the BC Cultural Diversity Association and a number of other organizations participated in the National Seniors Day at Bonsor Recreational Center. MOSAIC Seniors Club Green Ambassadors were invited to share the program and their learning.

Mr Liu, a green ambassador senior said: “After participating in various MOSAIC Green Ambassadors activities, I have realized that we should change our way of life from all aspects such as food, clothing, housing and transportation; saving our environment is our shared responsibility.”

Global Warming is imminent. Daisy Au, a MOSAIC Settlement Worker, encouraged everyone at the event to start making changes to create a healthier planet.

The Green Ambassadors Group is one of the Community Connection Activities under MOSAIC’s Newcomers & Community Building Program. Seniors at MOSAIC Seniors Club are taking the lead in this project. They have learned about environmental problems, energy-saving and recycling tips, making compost at home, volunteered in the environment restoration project, and have tried simple do-it-yourself recipes to make eco-friendly products.

The MOSAIC Seniors Club has a wide range of free activities that encourage participants to make new friends, learn new skills and join community events. Aimed at immigrants and refugees aged 55 years and up, participants enjoy a myriad of benefits to their physical, social, spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being through these activities.
