_DSC8532MOSAIC congratulates Karina Briño, 2016 winner of an Influential Women in Business Award by Business in Vancouver. Briño joined the Board of Directors of MOSAIC in 2012, and has served the organization in different capacities including the Public Policy Committee of the Board that addresses issues of systemic barriers affecting the settlement and integration of immigrants and refugees. In 2015, Karina was asked to join the Executive Committee of the Board as a member at large. The MOSAIC Board has benefited immensely from her experiences both at the public and private sector, and this is a well-deserved acknowledgement of her contribution to the community and business.
Ms. Briño’s volunteer contribution does not stop at MOSAIC. In June 2012, she was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Britannia Mine Museum. She is a former member of the Standards Council of Canada’s Advisory Committee on Social Responsibility, which was established to guide the development of ISO 26000. In July 2012, she was presented a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in commemoration of the sixtieth anniversary of Her Majesty’s Accession to the Throne and in recognition of Ms. Briño’s contributions to Canada.
Briño has been the President and CEO of the Mining Association of British Columbia (MABC) since 2011. Previously, she served the British Columbia’s government as Assistant Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines, as well, as Executive Director of both Policy and Sustainability, and Regional Operations, in Mining and Minerals.
