MOSAIC celebrates 96-year-old client

June 25, 2019

A celebration was held on June 25 for Sahebjan Arjmand who turned 96 years old at the end of May.

Sahebjan has been attending a conversation circle with other Persian women every Tuesday at MOSAIC for 18 months, and her fellow participants honoured her for her birthday.

While blowing out her birthday candles, she took not a wish for herself but sent best wishes for everyone in the room. Happy birthday, Sahebjan.

Sahebjan immigrated to Canada 25 years ago, where her four sons and one daughter reside.  She lives alone, receiving loving support and assistance from her daughter, and credits good food and socializing for her longevity.

She greatly enjoys her weekly visits with the Persian-speaking women’s group and recently participated in a senior’s event at Central Park which was co-hosted by MOSAIC.

The MOSAIC Multicultural Women’s Support Group provides a space for immigrant and refugee women to build connections to the community and to learn about life in Canada. Our group of immigrant women meet regularly to talk, cook, learn about new programs and resources and participate in many different activities at MOSAIC sites and in the community.
