Love letters to nature

May 25, 2016

The David Suzuki 30×30 Challenge encourages people to spend thirty minutes outdoors for thirty days for the month of May. On May 27th, MOSAIC staff and clients — members of Settlement Programs’ Seniors Club — continued taking on the challenge with enthusiasm. The theme of this year’s challenge was to write love letters to nature. Throughout the month of May, participants expressed their love and connection with nature through these letters.More than 60 seniors gathered on a sunny day at Deer Lake Park to celebrate our success with the 30×30 nature challenge. To kick-off the event, they gathered for a group photo capturing their excitement for the day’s activities. Tai chi, group singing, and chit chatting marked a boost in energy levels confirming that “Nature is the best healer”, as one member described their experience. As time went by, the group took a walk around the lake to explore and have some tranquility time and space. After that, they created a storytelling circle where they shared stories in their own language. The seniors left with good spirits after a day spent in nature while connecting with new and old friends over shared stories and food. It was a multicultural delight!Love letters to nature Love letters to nature Love letters to nature
