Three new Board members elected

MOSAIC welcomed three new members to its volunteer Board of Directors at the 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM), which took place Thursday, September 21. election of board members nonprofit

The new Board members are:

Matthew Carter

Matthew is a Vancouver-based real estate development professional who focuses on helping institutions and not-for-profit landowners redevelop underutilized properties.

Mehran Kiai

Mehran is the principal of K&L Unity, a group of privately held companies that actively acquire, develop, and manage commercial properties in Vancouver. Previously, he was the Dean of Lifelong Learning at BCIT and the Director of Enrolment Service at Simon Fraser University. Previously, he served on the MOSAIC Board from 2009 to 2019 and he is now re-engaging for another term.

Gary Wong

Gary is an Associate Portfolio Manager at Leith Wheeler Investment Counsel. He works closely with a diverse group of pension plans, government entities, universities, not-for-profits, corporations, and professional organizations on their investment strategies, as well as day-to-day client servicing. He currently serves as a Board Member for Pain BC and previously co-chaired the CFA Society Vancouver Mentorship program.

“Each new Board member brings a diverse set of skills and experiences, and we look forward to a dynamic and impactful year ahead,” said Board Chair Petra Kuret.

“We are incredibly grateful to all members of our Board for their time, commitment, and expertise as we work together to serve our clients, and community,” said CEO Olga Stachova. Stachova also thanked for their service the Board members whose terms have finished: Paul Cheng, Bark Kong, Wendy Ma and Barb West.

A big thank you as well to former MOSAIC clients Shruti Chamoli (SCOPE/Workplace Connections), Jean Luc Kalambayi (SCOPE), Farkhonda Rajabe (now MOSAIC staff) and Senait Tamir (MOSAIC Family Centre). They shared their stories at the AGM and their journeys to employment, and how they are now giving back to the community. Jean Luc advised all to get connected and build relationships; through relationships you meet so many people and you get mentors and they learn your story and want to help.
