Join us for a Visible Voices: A Photovoice Workshop\, where you’ll have the opportunity to visually document\, reflect on\, and discuss your experience as an immigrant woman who has experienced violence. \nEvent Details:  \n\nDate: August 1\, 2024\nTime: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM\nLocation: The event will begin in Classroom 2 at MOSAIC’s Boundary Office and will include a walk to Burnaby’s Central Park midway through the event.\nRegister with the registration form and view the event flyer.\n\nFor any questions\, please e-mail kleung@mosaicbc.org call MOSAIC’s main office at 604-254-9626. \nWhat You Can Expect From The Visible Voices Event: \nThe event facilitates social connection and support using Photovoice. Photovoice is a research method that encourages discussion by putting cameras in the hands of people with valuable lived experiences so they can share their perspectives on topics. Participants will meet at MOSAIC for an introduction to the activity and then\, proceed with a walk to Burnaby’s Central Park for the photo-taking portion of the event. The event concludes with a facilitated discussion about participants’ photos and experience. \nIf you would like to read more on the topic\, information can be found on Photovoice Worldwide’s website. Benefits of Photovoice include: \n\nOpportunity for Learning: Group discussion facilitates social connection and time for people to learn from their peers’ diverse experiences.\nFosters Healing: Participants are provided with a creative outlet which supports their journey of recovery and healing.\nAwareness and Advocacy: Photos and stories can be shared to the public to raise awareness about important social issues and highlights the need for change.\n\nPlease note: all participants must bring their own smartphone to the event for the photo-taking activity.
