SUMMARY:Combatting Gender-Based Violence: Strengthening Our Community During the 16 Days of Activism
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an event dedicated to addressing the issue of gender-based violence\, with a specific focus on Indigenous communities within our own. This gathering is in solidarity with the 16 Days of Activism against Violence Targeting Women and Girls\, a global initiative observed annually. The campaign begins on November 25\, the International Day for the Eradication of Violence against Women\, and Girls\, and concludes on December 10\, recognized as Human Rights Day. Let’s come together to raise awareness and stand against gender-based violence in our communities. \nWe have invited Indigenous communities to deliver a land acknowledgment and provide essential updates on the ongoing challenges surrounding Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women\, Girls\, Two-Spirit\, and others (MMIWG2S+). \nIn collaboration with representatives from the Burnaby RCMP\, we aim to deepen our understanding of the police’s role in addressing gender-based violence. Through insightful discussions\, we’ll explore the intersectionality of these issues and work towards fostering awareness and change. \nDuring the event\, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the community\, ask questions\, and participate in meaningful conversations. \nWe are delighted to provide refreshments to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment. \nTo be a part of this important dialogue during the 16 Days of Activism\, please register by filling out the Registration Form. \nLet’s unite to break the silence\, raise awareness\, and contribute to the ongoing efforts to combat gender-based violence. Your support can make a significant impact. \nDate: November 30\, 2023 \nTime: 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM \nLocation: 5575 Boundary Rd\, Vancouver BC\, V5R 2P9. But if you can’t make it\, you can join us online via Zoom.  \nThis event is organized by the Multicultural Outreach Services.
