About the Session:
Are you a temporary foreign worker or a newcomer to British Columbia? Do you want to know more about your rights in the workplace? This session is for you. Hosted in partnership with the Consulate General of the Philippines/ Philippine Overseas Labor Office, and organized by the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Philippine Labor Office (OWWA) Vancouver, our knowledgeable settlement outreach worker, Henry Morato, will guide you through essential topics such as workers’ rights in BC, open work permits for vulnerable workers, and the agencies you can contact if you face any issues with your employer.

- Understanding Workers’ Rights in British Columbia: Gain comprehensive insights into your rights as a worker in BC, including employment standards, wages, working conditions, and more.
- Open Work Permits for Vulnerable Workers: Learn about the eligibility criteria and benefits of open work permits for vulnerable workers, providing you with the freedom to seek employment in Canada without being tied to a specific employer.
- Important Government Agencies: Discover the role of essential government agencies such as Service Canada, Employment Standards Branch, and WorkSafeBC in safeguarding your rights and ensuring fair treatment in the workplace.
